Medical Students, Research Teams to Use Secure File Transfer Appliance to Transfer Data among Internal, External Users

Palo Alto, Calif. – Jan. 24, 2006 –

Accellion, Inc., a pioneering developer of secure file transfer and attachment offload solutions, announced today that Cornell University's Weill Medical College (WMC) in New York City has selected Accellion to provide its Courier Secure File Transfer Appliance (SFTA) to students, faculty, and research personnel. The Courier SFTA solution allows both WMC users and their external counterparts to quickly and easily transfer files of any size.

"We are very pleased with the Accellion Courier FTA solution," said Steve Erde, M.D., Senior Director and Chief Security Officer of Cornell University's Weill Medical College. "The appliance alleviates the concerns associated with file transfers that have troubled our users for many years, and does so in a very cost-effective manner.

Previously, research teams and students at Cornell's WMC had difficulty receiving large files from external users, whose servers often could not handle the transmission of large files such as research proposals, grants, or presentations via email. Accellion's Courier FTA solution allows both internal WMC and external users to transfer files quickly without affecting server performance or comprising security.

"Accellion Courier FTA appliance has been built with large institutions such as medical and academic research institutions in mind by allowing both internal and external users to share information quickly and easily," said Yorgen Edholm, CEO and President of Accellion. "We are proud to serve members of this renowned institution."
