Senior Accountant

Job Description and Desired Skills: 

This position is responsible for key areas of the accounting function in a fast-growth high-tech company.  These areas include supporting the monthly and quarterly accounting close process and working closely with the Accounting Manager and other team members to create accurate and timely consolidated financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.  In addition, this position will work closely with the Accounting Manager on key processes and policies and the implementation of controls, effective management reporting and to help support quarterly reviews and the annual audit.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in timely preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements on a GAAP basis and management reporting package.
  • Perform financial statements analytics and provide relevant explanations for fluctuations.
  • Perform general accounting functions, including operation of the general ledger system, journal entries, and month-end close work.
  • Month-end reconciliations for various accounts.
  • Assist with FAS123R accounting.
  • Assist with international accounting close responsibilities including review of reporting packages and reconcile multi-currency inter-company transactions.
  • Support the external audit process for both US and International entities, including preparation of audit schedules.
  • Research technical accounting issues and write up accounting memos.
  • Assistance with development, maintenance and documentation of all policies and procedures.
  • Support management in completing special projects and other tasks as assigned.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements or automation.
Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 5 – 7 years relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of current US GAAP accounting, including software revenue recognition and share-based compensation.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work additional hours as necessary.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with all levels and cross-departmental.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow up skills.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel, including pivot tables.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast paced and rapidly growing company.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP applications a plus.
  • CPA or public accounting firm background preferred.
