Accellion's Secure File Transfer Solution Supports the Organization's Mission to Preserve Nature
Palo Alto, California — November 4, 2008 — Accellion, Inc. (www.accellion.com) a leading provider of managed file transfer solutions, today announced it has been selected by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to solve large file transfer issues which had hindered collaboration efforts. Ease of use and a familiar email-like user interface were key differentiators that led to the organization's selection of the Accellion Secure File Transfer Solution.
TNC is the leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people. Because it is a non-profit organization, TNC relies heavily on the electronic transfer of information as a cost effective means to collaborate locally and globally.
TNC previously used FTP as a means to share large files within the organization and externally. Experiencing a heavy increase in the volume and size of files being sent, FTP was no longer a viable solution. Because of the complexity of FTP for many users and increasing volume and size of files, shipping costs increased as some users resorted to courier services as a workaround. The ability to manage, track and confirm if files were received by intended recipients is an added bonus.
"We needed a solution that would give our users a seamless way to send files without requiring IT assistance. The Accellion Secure File Transfer Solution's ease of use and familiar e-mail interface met the requirements for our organization," said Theron Kelso, Program Director of Infrastructure for the Nature Conservancy. "In addition to freeing up our IT department and simplifying collaboration for our end users, we received an unexpected Green bonus. Accellion's solution complements our nature preservation mission; by sending information digitally we are saving trees while reducing CO2 emissions."
"Accellion is working closely with enterprises worldwide to help them realize the many business, financial and environmental benefits associated with deploying the Accellion Secure File Transfer Solution," said Yorgen Edholm, president and CEO of Accellion. "More than just streamlining the collaboration process, Accellion helps enterprises reduce storage and shipping costs, safeguards confidential data while providing tracking and monitoring capabilities to adhere to compliance mandates, and lessens the burden on IT administrators. It also offers clear environmental benefits including reduced CO2 emissions and paper usage."
